Overview:
Suspense is an American television anthology series which ran on CBS Television from 1949. It had been adapted from the air program of the same name which ran from 1942 to 1962. Like many tv programs that were ancient, the show was broadcast live from New York City. It had been sponsored by the Auto-Lite corporation, and sponsor Rex Marshall, that encouraged Auto-Lite spark plugs, car batteries, tractors, along with vehicle parts introduced each episode. While others were original for tv some of the scripts were adapted from Suspense radio broadcasts. By writers that are famous , many broadcasts were adaptations of literary classics like the air program. Whereas contemporary authors such as Roald Dahl and Gore Vidal also donated classic authors such as Agatha Christie, Edgar Allan Poe, and Charles Dickens had stories adapted for the series. Many noteworthy celebrities appeared such as Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Franchot Tone, Robert Emhardt, Leslie Nielsen, Lloyd Bridges, and a Lot More. The program was a tv series, but most episodes were listed on kinescope. Now, But, only about 90 of the 260 episodes live.
