Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, and David Wain, members of the sketch comedy troupe of the same name and former cast members of MTV's The State, created and starred in the short-lived television series Stella, which aired on the American television channel Comedy Central from June 28, 2005 to August 30, 2005. Stella has been performing as a comedic troupe since 1997. It has a cult following and sells out events around the United States. Tuesdays at 10:30 p.m. EST, the show aired. After ten episodes, Stella's time slot was filled by Mind of Mencia in September. Stella's official website published the following message on March8,2006: "Last summer, Comedy Central aired the STELLA series. The network has announced that it would not be renewed for a second season "Thus, the series is basically cancelled. On September12,2006, the first season DVD was released. Some episodes were also accessible on iTunes and Hulu, with others on Joost. Stella aired on The Comedy Channel in Australia on May3, 2007.
