A recluse scientist creates a robot that looks exactly like him in order to go on a long-term space expedition with the help of other scientists. Because the scientist appears to be devoid of all human emotion, he is unable to put these emotions into his android, and an eccentric woman is hired to "teach" the robot on human conduct and emotions. At the end of the film, she falls in love... but is it with the robot or with Dr. Right?
