Cast to a barbarous and bloody world of murder, Hereward, a novice monk, has to deliver the Holy Gospel of Lindisfarne - a publication of great power and beauty - into the protection of the Iona monastery, while being pursued by a Viking death squad hell- bent on its own capture. On his approach into the monastery, he meets a ferocious and proficient swordsman who answers his prayers and dedicates his life while he produces the publication to protecting Hereward. In the midst of their travel , they are faced with Vikings willing to kill as a way to acquire what they want, leaving Hereward and his own protector at their mercy.
